Before your flight Paris Antananarivo

When should I book a flight Paris Antananarivo?

Madagascar has a tropical climate and can be visited all year round. There is no ideal time to visit. Instead, choose your dates based on what you want to do while you are there.

The rainy season, from November to March, is very hot. Despite the rain, this is an ideal time to go diving. Note, however, that the summer months of July and August are the peak tourist season for the island. There is also a risk of cyclones between January and March, although this is very low.

The dry season, from April to October, corresponds to the Australian winter. Temperatures reach 30°C on the coast and 25°C in the highlands. Visitors can then enjoy paradisiacal beaches lined with palm trees.

What formalities must I complete before my flight from Paris to Antananarivo?

French nationals must present a passport valid for 6 months from the date of return at the border. An entry and stay VISA is mandatory, even for stays of less than three months. The Malagasy authorities may require a paper copy of your electronic ticket and may refuse you entry to the country if you do not appear. You may be asked for a return ticket and the address of your accommodation. Since 1 January 2016, a tourist tax of €10 is payable by all foreigners entering Madagascar.

The official language is Madagascan, but in practice the population also speaks French.

The currency used is the Ariary. You will therefore need to change money before you leave or on the spot.

Cars can be hired locally, but most visitors travel by bush taxi, an inexpensive way of getting around the island.

The metropolis is 2 hours behind Madagascar in winter and 1 hour in summer.
