The Indian Ocean in brief
While the Indian Ocean as a whole covers an area of 75,000,000 km² from Africa to Australia, the destinations served by Corsair correspond in fact to its western part, to the east of the African coast.
This geographical area includes the islands of Madagascar, Mayotte, Réunion, Mauritius, the Seychelles, the Comoros archipelago and Rodrigues.
It has around 23,820,000 inhabitants and 594,500 km2 of land area.
Climate
The islands of the Western Indian Ocean have a humid tropical climate. The weather is hot all year round (average: 23°C). There is no winter, but a dry season (May to October, temperatures around 23 to 25°C, little rainfall) and a rainy season (November to April, warmer temperatures between 27 and 32°C with rain).
However, differences in topography and exposure to sea winds mean that there are considerable variations between the islands that make up the archipelago.
Finally, the area is partially exposed to seasonal cyclones, which generally occur between January and March.
Stopover in Paris
A stopover in Paris on a flight from the West Indies to the Indian Ocean is an exceptional opportunity to discover the City of Light. Take advantage of this break to visit iconic monuments such as the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre and the Champs-Élysées, while sampling delicious French cuisine. With its many museums and boutiques, Paris transforms a simple stopover into a memorable cultural experience.
